Mediation

Mediation is a clearly structured method of conflict resolution

The top priority is to preserve the dignity of all parties involved in the conflict and to take a responsible, solution-oriented approach. We accompany you impartially through your process, which you shape yourself by bringing in your own topics.

Participating in mediation gives everyone involved the opportunity to express their individual concerns calmly and without agitation, to listen carefully to the concerns of other parties, and to develop an understanding of the overall situation from different perspectives.

Guided negotiation leads to concrete solutions that are beneficial for all parties. In this way, you develop sustainable and future-proof solutions that open up new perspectives and approaches: You regain your ability to act.

 Mediation Questions & Answers
How does mediation work?

Mediators guide the parties through a structured process in order to:

  • collect the issues that need to be clarified for the parties,
  • identify the interests and needs of all parties with regard to the issues,
  • find viable and forward-looking solutions based on the interests and needs.
What´s the role of a mediator?
The mediator's focus is entirely on the process and the people involved, so that they feel comfortable and can concentrate fully on the content. He/she is responsible for the structure of the process, but not for the content. Mediators are impartial and treat all parties equally. They are bound by confidentiality.
How do the parties to the conflict participate in the mediation process?
The parties involved in a mediation process play a decisive role in the process and bear responsibility for the solution that is worked out. The content, including all proposed solutions, is developed exclusively by the parties involved. This not only ensures that the solution is tailored to their needs, but also that it is feasible and sustainable.
How long does mediation take?
The duration of mediation depends on many factors, not least the attitude of the people involved and the scope of the conflict. However, experience shows that good results can be achieved after just six hours of work. Individual sessions usually last two to three hours so that a good dynamic can be achieved. The decision on whether to continue the work lies with the people involved at all times.
When can mediation be used?
Mediation is a deliberately chosen conflict resolution method with a clear structure and process, accompanied by a neutral third party, which can be used in various situations, including those that have reached an impasse. The earlier this method is used in the escalation of a conflict, the greater the chances are that the process can be completed quickly.
